How to transform a resolution into concrete goals and actions

A new year just started and you're probably full of new resolutions! Awesome!
While a resolution is useful in providing a long-term picture of what you want to do or where you want to be, your goal(s) are the calculated steps you need to take action and achieve this resolution.
This means deciding what your main priority is, making room for it in your agenda, creating new habits, getting out of your comfort zone, trying, failing, trying again, maybe failing again, trying again...until it all runs smoothly.
Use the S.M.A.R.T. and C.L.E.A.R. methods to define your goals:
Specific - Measurable - Achievable - Relevant - Time-bound
Collaborative - Limited - Emotional - Appreciable - Refinable
Here's how to start:
Decide why your goal is so important, what is means to you, what emotions are linked to it, what your purpose is and what you want to achieve (so that you can come back to this every time you have doubts or setbacks)
Break your goal into small action steps
Prioritize each action step
Plan each action (deadline, duration, timeline)
Stick to your plan !
Sticking to your plan can be the most difficult part, so here are a few ideas:
Pencil in all your actions (in your paper agenda, online calendar, mobile app or whatever organizational/project management tool you use)
Put up post-its of your goal/purpose where you can see them often
Set reminders and alerts
Track your progress
Be flexible: give yourself permission to refine & modify your goals/actions if new situations arise
Breathe, slow down and rest regularly
Take notes of your setbacks, acknowledge your weaknesses and work through them
Be grateful for each step you take that brings you closer to your goal
Be accountable and find someone to help you stay accountable (family, friend, partner, support group, Coach, etc)
